Product Introduction

What is the Crankshaft?
Crank is considered as one of the most important mechanical discoveries made.

The Crankshaft, sometimes casually abbreviated to Crank, is a part in an engine which translates reciprocating linear piston motion into rotation. To convert the reciprocating motion into rotation, the crankshaft has "crank throws" or "crankpins", additional bearing surfaces, whose axis is offset from that of the crank, to which the "big ends" of the connecting rods from each Cylinder attach.

It typically connects to a flywheel, to reduce the pulsation characteristic of the 4-stroke cycle, and sometimes a torsion or vibration damper at the opposite end, to reduce the torsion vibrations often caused along the length of the crankshaft by the cylinders farthest from the output end acting on the torsion elasticity of the metal.

Al-Jazari was the first engineer to invent the Crankshaft, which is considered the single most important invention after the wheel. This system is used to transform linear motion into rotating motion, and visa versa, and is central to the modern machinery such as internal combustion engines used today.

Crankshafts for Diesel Engines are having large weight, called Counter Weights that balance the weight of connecting rods. These Weights ensure an even (Balance) force during the rotation of moving parts.
